76-year-old man remanded for allegedly a raping teenager

A Family Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Tuesday remanded a 76-year-old man, Akeem Muritala, in a correction centre for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, ordered that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

Ogunkanmi adjourned the case until October 23 for mention.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Gbemisola Adedeji, told the court that Muritala committed the offence in July in the Isale-Afa area of Ibadan and that the defendant narrated the abuse to the police.
