In a dramatic turn of events, the Department of State Services (DSS) and a contingent of police officers descended upon the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State as disgruntled youths intensified their protest over the prolonged absence of the state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

The state capital of Akure became a focal point of tension on Monday morning as placard-carrying youths gathered to express their frustration regarding Akeredolu’s health status and his extended stay away from the state.

Although the security forces did not seal off the secretariat, they effectively confined the agitated youths within the premises, preventing them from staging their demonstration beyond the secretariat’s boundaries.

The result was a protest held within the confines of the PDP secretariat while security operatives maintained a firm barricade around the area.

Kennedy Peretei, the Publicity Secretary of PDP in Ondo State, alleged that the security operatives not only restricted the protesting youths within the secretariat but also thwarted the entry of additional demonstrators who sought to join the ongoing protest.

This sudden show of force and the escalating youth protest highlight the growing concerns over Governor Akeredolu’s continued absence and the perceived lack of transparency regarding his health condition.

The people of Ondo State anxiously await further developments in this unfolding saga.
