The verdict was handed down following the admission of guilt by the cross-dressers during their appearance before the Hisbah Shari’a Court.

The presiding Judge, Khadi Tanimu-Sani, decreed that each offender should receive 10 lashes of the cane, pay a fine of N20,000, and provide one surety or face the three-month imprisonment term.

The  eight individuals had been apprehended by the Kano State Hisbah Board for their alleged involvement in cross-dressing activities.

This legal action comes in the wake of their arrest at a wedding event in Kofar Waika, Gwale local government area of Kano.

The Deputy Commander General of the Hisbah Board, Dr. Mujaheed Aminudeen Abubakar, confirmed these developments in a statement provided to journalists.

The individuals in question were taken into custody based on information supplied by concerned citizens who observed young men dressed in female Fulani attire participating in the wedding celebration.

Acting promptly, Hisbah operatives arrived at the scene and detained eight individuals found attired in female clothing, engaged in what was perceived as provocative behavior.
