The National Assembly has passed a bill to make comprehensive provisions for the prohibition and punishment for sexual harassment by educators in tertiary institutions. The Senate passed this bill in 2020 while the House of Representatives passed theirs but with different provisions. The Chairman Senate Committee on Judiciary, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele on Wednesday said the conference committee of both chambers harmonised the different positions as he presented the report during plenary session. A Benue State Magistrate sitting in Markurdi has remanded a teacher simoky identified as Okoriko for alleged armed robbery . Okoriko who lives in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue was charged for armed robbery and attempted culpable homicide. He was said to have stabbed his victim, one Kelvin Ikwue on the neck and stole his Samsung Galaxy phone worth N165,000 However, Magistrate Roseline Iyorshe did not take his plea for want in jurisdiction. A private Nigerian Airline, Air Peace Ltd, has dragged the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) before the Federal High Court in Lagos over the alleged disruption of its operations by the unions and its officers. The airline is asking the court to award it N1 billion as general damages, N450 million as special damages and N250 million as exemplary damages. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has debunked claims suggesting that lopsided promotions are taking place within the agency. The National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency has disclosed that Oil and gas companies operating in Nigeria flared 92.3 million standard cubic feet, mscf, of gas, worth an estimated N150 billion between January and April 2023. NOSDRA said the development represents an increase of 79.5 percent against 50.3mscf of gas flared in the corresponding period of 2022.
